The number 1 ranked Westview Wolverines men’s basketball team faced off against the number 28 ranked Omaha South Packers last Friday night.
The Wolverines won 81-57, adding another win to their win streak of now ten games. After losing to Creighton Prep in the in the holiday tournament, Westview have notched wins against teams like number one ranked Papillion-LaVista South and getting revenge on number two Creighton Prep (rankings were at the time of wins), propelling them to first place in the Nebraska Class A standings.
Friday’s game was no different in Westview’s 24 point victory. Westview was in complete control almost the whole game as they kept scoring on the possessions that mattered and played lockdown defense down the stretch.
The combination of these two factors contributed to Westview jumping out to a big lead and gradually maintaining it throughout the whole game. This domination was also without their leading scorer, Tayvin Zephier-Murphy as he was unable to play that night.
Stringing together these wins throughout the season and staying healthy can help Westview make a deep state tournament run. Westview’s slate the rest of the week is against Lincoln East at home on Tuesday at 7 and at Columbus Friday at 7.
