In past seasons, Love Island was a show of exploring connections left and right as people got dumped and bombshells entered.
Normally there is a pattern for choosing their couple in the villa: You meet them, chat, express your feelings, and eventually close off from other islanders. This season, this pattern did not come quickly. We saw relationships we thought were going to last crumble over just one challenge. The whole point of Love Island is to find love, but the winner also leaves with a cash prize of $100,000.
While some islanders were playing to find a partner, some islanders were playing to win the money.
The winner of the 2025 Love Island season was Amaya and Bryan, who both entered the Villa later in the season.
While I love Amaya’s personality and how she is not afraid to show her feelings, this season’s votes were not made on couples, but rather the character of each person individually.
Love Island is not based on a singular person, but two people in a long-lasting couple.
As an active watcher of the show all the way back to season one, my vote has always been chosen by which couple deserved the prize, not which person.
My vote went towards a couple of longevity, and in my opinion, Amaya and Bryan did not hold that. Their relationship was extremely rushed, and just after the reunion aired, it was found that Bryan cheated on Amaya which brings me back to my day one thought that he just wanted the money.
For someone who kept claiming he loved her bubbly personality, he sure didn’t take any time moving on after receiving his money.
Out of all the couples, Chelley and Ace were together the longest, had actual issues that they crossed and still came out together and survived the hate online.
Chelley and Ace had the rare occurrence of knowing each other outside the villa and while many argue that at the beginning of the season, they should’ve been dumped for being a “Mean Girl” and a “Ringleader,” I believe they should’ve won overall.
Chelley and Ace made it through countless amounts of challenges, endless drama, and hurricane Huda, while Amaya and Bryan were only official for a short period of time.
No matter if they were arguing, Ace brought Chelley breakfast, he created dates in the villa to show his love for Chelley and he even went out of his way to comfort other girls in the villa who didn’t have someone to treat them that way.
Just before the final four Chelley and Ace were dumped from the island by coming in fifth in America’s vote. That was not the right answer.
For example, Iris and Pepe were a couple that made it to the final four. But as Pepe jumped from Hannah to Gracyn to Iris, I think he was not looking for a partner but rather a blonde girl in distress.
Another couple in the final four, Huda and Chris, once again did not deserve their spot. They did not make it out a couple, and they even broke up before the winner was even announced.
Lastly, Nic and Orlandria, runners up in the final four. They are a great couple with their long journey to love, but I don’t think that with the amount of time they had as a couple, they would have deserved the win.
Chelley and Ace were the only couple to stay together from episode one, all the way past the season reunion. .
While my vote got lost in the storm, my heart is still stuck that Chelley and Ace should have won season seven of Love Island.
