Westview’s chapter of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), had their first meeting on September 3.
Westview’s DECA chapter is growing rapidly with 82 members in the club. With that many members, there is room for new learning experiences and growth.
“I am excited to see members compete, take on new leadership responsibilities, and build a positive community for students to network with their peers,” Julie Burnett, one of the teaching leaders at Westview’s DECA chapter, said.
According to Julie Burnett the nine officers for DECA at Westview will be attending a leadership conference at Creighton University on October 14. During this conference, the DECA leaders will learn about potential career pathways. DECA will help the leaders prepare for college and life after high school.
DECA leaders at Westview will get to participate in workshop sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), where the leaders will be divided into small groups and tasked with creating an ad strategy for the Nebraska Furniture Mart.
This is one of the many opportunities that DECA will participate in throughout this school year.
