Junkstock, a market where small Nebraskan vendors sell antique goods, crafts and “junk,” opened for their annual fall convention on the weekends of October 3-5, and 10-12.
This season’s theme was “camp Junkstock,” so it featured a variety of decorations that represented camping and a cozy forest aesthetic. Smokey the Bear was one of the many large characters displayed towards the entrance and giving it that campy feel.
Many of the vendors from previous years, as well as some new ones, were present and selling their vintage/homemade goods. Small food businesses and food trucks also had a chance to sell and advertise their products.
Junkstock is an opportunity for these small Nebraskan businesses to connect with locals and grow their reputation and sales. Many of these small businesses attract loyal customers who follow the business to their online store or different selling locations.
Something new this year included a special tribute to Fleetwood Mac, and their hit song “Landslide”. On Saturday, October 4, at 8pm, a small band performed “Landslide” for the people of Junkstock to enjoy. Admission for this tribute was included with the general admission ticket for the convention. People brought blankets, chairs, and excitement to this small concert as they shared their love for Fleetwood Mac.
