Defense was the name of the game as the Wolverines Varsity football team shutout the Omaha Northwest Huskies on Friday, October 10 with a dominant 72-0 win.
The triumph was highlighted by notable performances from many of Westview’s seniors, including touchdowns by Damani Allen, Zachary Babic, and Aaron Kolala.
Kade DeJong, 12, had one interception to help cap off a lights-out defensive performance by the Wolverines.
On offense, Scott Miner II, 10, threw for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns with Sage Giddings, 11, anchoring the run game, going for 74 yards on 4 carries with 3 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Mauricio Bermudez, 10, got his first reps of the season, with 38 yards and 1 touchdown.
Special Teams had its highlight moments too, with Aaron Ly, 10, taking a kickoff return 65 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
The Wolverines travel south to take on the Millard West Wildcats on Friday, October 24 to round out both district play and the regular season. The winner of the game will be crowned district champion.
