Westview Softball competed in the NSAA A-7 District on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th. This district features the teams Westview, Gretna, Colombus, and Lincoln Northeast.
The first game was between Westview and Lincoln Northeast, where the Wolverines came out with a win in a thrilling 12-11 walk-off win.

Westview had a commanding 5-0 lead until the top of the third inning, when Lincoln Northeast scored six runs to take the lead. They extended the lead, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth and one run in the top of the sixth to take a 9-5 lead over the Wolverines.
Lincoln Northeast looked like they had stolen the momentum from Westview until they stormed back with a five-run bottom of the sixth, taking the lead. Lincoln Northeast then stole the lead back in the top of the seventh, leaving the game to be decided by Westview in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, sophomore Kadence Bosan hit a two-run double to center field to walk it off for Westview.
Westview went 2-0 on the first day of districts, as they also beat the district host and top ranked Gretna in a 9-5 comeback win. Westview and Gretna traded two runs in the first, and it stayed that way until Gretna scored another two in the fifth. Westview answered with an offensive explosion of seven runs in the last two innings while stopping a Gretna rally in the seventh to win 9-5.
With Gretna’s win over Lincoln Northeast 12-2, they battled their way back to a rematch with Westview in the championship game. In the first game they dominated, outscoring Westview 10-5 with a six run second inning, which gave them all the momentum they needed to win.
Gretna needed to win two games against Westview to win the district though because Westview had beaten them the day before.
In a close game, Gretna pitched their way to a win over the Wolverines, with their pitcher throwing seven innings and allowing only two runs on the way to a 5-2 victory to advance to the State playoffs.
