Westview’s football team started the season with a scrimmage last Friday at 7:00 PM. The game was held at Westview’s stadium, where all three teams took turns playing each other. The blue varsity, orange junior varsity, and white freshman teams rotated on and off the field every few plays.
Last year, the team ended its season by making it to the playoffs for the first time ever, but lost 48-0 to Westside.
Head coach Benjamin Ryan said, “We’ll always try to build on what we did in previous seasons. I think the guys that graduated last year started this program off from literally nothing and built us into a playoffs team in only three short years.”
One Senior team captain, Evan Simeone, said, “I’m confident in our receivers and that they are going to be able to do the right thing. Our defense is solid, just overall I’m confident in everyone.”
Ryan is “not big on making predictions” but said the team is capable of taking the next step and added that he’s excited for another successful season.
