On August 13, 2025, the class of 2029 officially began high school.
One freshmen Kimberly Ramirez, 9. She came from Buffett Middle School and is on Team Orange.
“High school has been really cool and there has been more freedom. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 8,” she said.
Ramirez likes that we are allowed to have our phones. But she does not like that she already has to focus and do our work if we want to graduate. She is looking forward to having good grades, getting her work done fast and graduating.
Her favorite class is French because she has some of her friends in there. Something that surprised Ramirez was the number of students in her class and there not being enough seats.
Another freshman was Cheyenne Myers, 9. She is on Team Blue and came from Buffett Middle School. Myers is on the dance team, and she thinks it’s fun and good.
Her thoughts on high school is that it has been okay and there are something that should change.
She likes the way she met new people and made new friends, as well as learning new things. Even though she does not like how school is harder, her favorite classes are PE and French.
“PE is fun, and French has all my friends in it,” she said.
One thing that shocked her was the amount of people and how the teachers are much better. Myers is looking forward to basketball and football meets.
The last freshman is Jayda Neal, 9. She is also on Team Blue and came from Buffett as well.
“I think high school going great and I made a lot of friends.” She said.
One thing that shocked her was the LB 140 law that was passed this school year.
Her favorite class has been geometry since the work is easy and there is rarely any homework. But she does not like the amount of work she gets overall from all of her classes. Neal is looking forward to homecoming and the homecoming game.
She is a part of the swim team, and she think it is fun to get competitive with other people. One thing she likes about high school is how there is more freedom and more opportunities.
Overall, they think that they have been having a decent time at Westview.
