October 10 marked the last home game of Westview’s football season, and Senior night for football and fall activities who didn’t have the opportunity to host their own. Band, girls golf, boys tennis, cross country and football seniors walked the field accompanied by their guardians to be recognized.
Walking in front of the bleachers, seniors were announced by sport, with their names, who was walking with them, the activities they’re involved in, their favorite memory from Westview and their plans for after high school being announced.
“Four years of my life led up to that moment, and it was fun getting to reflect,” Football captain Evan Simeone, 12, said. “It felt surreal, I had known that the day would be coming, and I felt like I was prepared for it, but I just didn’t expect it to get here so quick.”
Waiting as seniors walked, many teammates stood and supported them as names were called.

“My favorite part was hearing the cheers from the other members of the band when my name was called,” Color guard leadership member, Brenna McKinley, 12, said. “It feels good to be a part of such a supportive group and I’m very happy with what I’m leaving behind.”
For many of the seniors being recognized, the night was about having their hard work acknowledged.
Football player Agar Baai, 12, said, “It felt great being recognized for all the hard work and hours of practice I’ve put in. It was very rewarding.”
As the last group, once all of football’s seniors finished walking, they began to prepare for the game, which started soon after.
Westview played Bellevue East and won the game 41-0. The majority of the teams’ seniors played during the game, making sure they had the chance to represent their school and grade on senior night.
“It felt good to win the game but it felt even better knowing my family was there to watch,” Baai said.
