Avatar 2 outshines its original
On December 18, 2009, the science fiction film Avatar was released. This movie included new groundbreaking CGI that left many speechless. This movie made $2.9 billion at the box office soon after it was released. For the next 13 years this movie was incredibly successful. Then came the next movie, Avatar 2 “The Way Of Water.”
There’s always hesitation when a sequel of an already fantastic movie is made. For the first Avatar being made in 2009, the CGI is very impressive. But once again they outdid themselves with Avatar 2.
Avatar 2 “The Way Of Water” is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful movies ever made.
From the storyline to the CGI, I was amazed. Typically it’s hard for me to sit through long movies, but I sat through the full three hours of this movie and enjoyed every second. The CGI draws you in with the beautiful designs and colors, and then you’re met with a beautiful storyline.
In the original movie, the Pandoran biosphere is where Jake and Neytiri spend their time. This forest has seriously jaw dropping CGI with fascinating creatures.
Obviously, from the title we could tell this movie would focus more around the ocean. Something I appreciate is how you can really see each layer. From the fish, to the coral in the background. The Avatars themselves have realistic features. Everything from subtle facial expressions to strands of hair made me forget they were CGI. They look completely real. This movie is incredibly detailed.
This movie is not only visually stunning but it’s emotionally impacting.
Neytiri and Jake Sully, the main characters of the first Avatar, officially have four kids. Kiri, Neyteyam, Lo’ak, and Tuk are now apart of the Sully family. I love that throughout the whole movie, their family continuously supports one another. No matter how upset or angry they are, the love they have for each other is endless.
Even through war with the sky people, Jake Sully says “I am done with war. I just want to keep my family safe.”
So much time and money was spent putting together this great movie. I’m so grateful that I am old enough now to truly see Avatar’s beauty. I think everyone should watch both of these movies at least once in their life.
