Blue the New Therapy Dog Supports Students

WESTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL: On August 29th, 2022. Westview’s newest counselor is in fact a cute puppy, her name is Blue.

Blue sits for students and gets pet on September 2nd at Westview High School. Blue started working at Westview High this year.

Blue was born on June 6th, 2016 on a Ranch in Skylar Nebraska. Blue is a 90 pound, 6-year-old Chocolate Labrador. Kuhn named her Blue since she was born with blue eyes, but they slowly turned brown over the years.

Blue loves sleeping, eating, and laying under Kuhn’s feet while she works. Blue started training in 2020 when Kuhn was bored at home. “We were a little bored at home and this is something I had always wanted to do with her,” said Kuhn.

Blue has her Good Citizen Certification through the American Kennel Club. She also has her Love on a Leash Certification, which is a non-profit organization, allowing them to volunteer at Memory Care Centers and Hospitals.

She gives everybody support, comfort, and love. Students don’t have to be in therapy to see Blue, she’s a friend anyone can go to at any time. If people need a break or just need someone to talk to then Blue is the right place to go to.

Blue, the therapy dog smiles as she sees her owner at home. “Blue enjoys eating and sleeping when not on the job,” Kuhn said.
