On Friday, April 24, Westview High will be sent back to 2020, participating in a full-day remote learning.
Due to the District Music Contest, from April 22-25, Westview will be vacated to host one day of the competition.
School will be held on a slightly adjusted schedule with students working from their iPads on an online meeting at home.
Attendance will be held and classes will continue as normal.
OPS hasn’t faced a fully online school day since the COVID lockdown in 2020, making the remote day controversial among students.
Some Westview High students suggest that we should instead just have the day off while others believe the recent format of office hours would be fine.
“I think since it’s only one day and we haven’t used Teams since COVID it makes no sense to do a remote day. We should definitely just have the day off,” Fardin Habibi, 10, said.
Habibi believes that instead of facing the trouble of school at home, students should just be rewarded a 3-day weekend.
“If we really have to do a remote day, we should just do our assignments on Canvas like usual,” Jackson Babic, 10, said.
A study day at the end of a long week is another alternative idea students have had to oppose this online day.
