From Feb. 26 to March 1, the National Football League (NFL) hosted the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The NFL Combine is a yearly event held for upcoming NFL prospects to showcase their skills before the draft. Players go through a variety of tests and drills to determine speed, strength, athleticism, and positional skills.
Fans can attend the combine, but many of the attendees are scouts and coaches from all 32 NFL teams.
Only the top 300-350 NFL prospects get the invite to the combine with players being selected by a scouting committee.
Over the combine’s 44-year history, approximately 85% of people drafted into the NFL were attendees of the combine. The combine has built a great reputation for showcasing the best players in the world.
Some standout combine performances in history showcase the amazing strength, speed and athleticism needed to play football at the highest level.
Eastern Kentucky University’s, Justin Ernest holds the NFL Combine record for most bench press reps of 225 pounds with 51. Since he set the record in 1999, only 17 other prospects have broken the 40-rep mark.
Xavier Worthy, a 2024 first-round pick, showcased his speed in the combine after he ran a mind-boggling 4.21 second 40-yard dash.
Defensive Back, Byron Jones, holds the combine record and unofficial world record for longest broad jump with his twelve feet three inches leap in 2015.
The 2026 NFL Combine brought in the same type of freak athletes, with some outstanding prospects for this year’s NFL Draft.
Some history was made in the speed test with Oregon TE, Kenyon Sadiq, running the fastest ever 40-yard dash by a tight end at 4.39 seconds. In the same event, Arkansas QB, Taylor Green, ran the fastest 40-yard dash by a quarterback since 2003 with his 4.36 second sprint.
