Cue the sappy romcom with Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” the leaked song for her new album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”. This song will make you drop dead once it hits your ear drums. 

When I hear this song, I imagine the end of a movie and the realization hits for the main characters that they are meant to be together. They go searching for one another and as they finally unite, the beat drops in the song and sparks fly. 

This song is the definition of feeling lovesick and the rush of anxiety falling for someone. With the tension build slowly and then the beat drop when she says, “Drop Dead”, it really brings together the irony of the song 

I would definitely say this song is not for everyone. It’s very girly and emotion heavy in a corny way, but if you love her former work, you will enjoy this as well. 

Compared to her former album that was more preppy and upbeat, you can feel heartbreak, disappointment and maturity rising. Still, her vibe and aesthetic remain on brand. 

Overall, I do enjoy the song, but I do wish I could relate so the song could hit that much harder. It is enjoyable, but not enough to have it in my frequent rotation. 

I would give this song a 3.5/5 purely because it is good but not good enough to really want to play it daily.
