Fantasy Football Draft based on face cards
The NFL is widely regarded as a “man’s” past time. Little do they know, the girlies are watching and for more reasons than just football. While the action on the field is entertaining, for some the face cards are what they are really looking for.
We (Fenou and Tessa) decided to do a formal investigation into the correlation between attractiveness and player ability. Tessa is the resident football expert, and Fenou is the executive director of looks.
We started our research by drafting our own individual fantasy football line ups, not based on skill, but on their looks.
Introducing Team Tessa: quarterback Jordan Love, running back Jonathon Taylor, wide receiver Devonta Smith, tight end Dalton Kincaid, kicker Jake Moody, flex position Stefon Diggs and the Cowboys defense.
Next, Team Fenou: quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Kyren Williams, wide receiver Davonte Adams, tight end Travis Kelce, kicker Jake Bates, flex position Tank Dell and the Texans defense.
Starting off with the quarterbacks, Jalen Hurts and Jordan Love.
With kind eyes, a picture-perfect smile, and dimples, Jalen Hurts is off to a strong start. (Bonus points for being a feminist and an overall nice guy).
Still, Jordan Love gets points for good eyebrows, the goatee to jawline, and overall facial cohesion.
Jalen Hurts led his team to a Super Bowl win and was awarded MVP. Jordan Love, however, lost to the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.
Hurts scored 24.04 points against the Vikings in week 7, while Love only scored 13.4 points. Because of this, we feel confident in choosing Jalen Hurts as the most versatile quarterback in the NFL and the winner of this round (Also his face card clears).
Moving on to the running back category we have Jonathon Taylor and Kyren Williams.
In this category, our opinions differed greatly on the quality of the face card. We both failed to see the appeal in the other persons’ pick, so our final decision is based purely on their ability on the football field.
Taylor picked up 34.2 points against the Chargers, and Williams had 8.5 against the Jaguars, making Jonathon Taylor our pick for running back.
Things are looking awfully similar in our receiver category, with two DeVonte’s, Davonte Adams and Devonta Smith. We are both in agreement that Davonte Adams is better looking then Devonte Smith, so that is our winner for the receiver category.
Now to the category that has brought a lot of girls to the NFL, tight end. Since Tessa picked Dalton Kincaid and Fenou picked Travis Kelce, the choice is obvious. Travis Kelce is our unanimous pick because of all the eyes he has brought to the league, along with his playing ability.
Now we’re seeing double with two Jake’s in the kicker category with Jake Bates and Jake Moody. Both are sporting the “boy next door” look, except you’d find Moody on a small-town farm while Bates would be a city boy. While Tessa thought Bates’ hair could use a trim, Fenou argued that the long hair was added to his charm.
Moody had 14 fantasy points in week 7, and Bates had 7 points. In spite of this, we still chose Bates as our kicker.
Our flex position features Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell. Though Dell shows some potential, he’s simply too young. His youthful glow is out of place compared to our other picks. With some time to age, we were sure he’d be a strong contender, but for now Stefon Diggs is the face we may never tire of.
Additionally, Dell dislocated his knee and multiple torn ligaments this season, so he isn’t winning on the football front either. Though Diggs only scored 6.9 points this week, Stefon Diggs clears on both the face card and football fronts.
For our defense Tessa chose the Cowboys, while Fenou chose the Texans.
We chose based on the defensive lines looks as a whole, and well… they both averaged out on the on that front but when it comes to football, the Cowboys took the win with 20 points compared to the Texans 16 points.
In the end, Fenou had the most people that we believe are the most attractive and best football players.
