On Friday, Feb. 6, Westview celebrated many members of the class of 2026.
Between the girls and boys basketball games, Westview recognized seniors from boys and girls basketball, drill team and cheer. Each senior was announced and escorted to the court with family and friends to be acknowledged for their time on their respective teams and their accomplishments at Westview. Their plans for post graduation were also announced.
Family, friends and teammates were all very supportive through these festivities. Girls basketball, for example, had little goodie baskets put together for each player.
The night started with the girls varsity basketball game, in which Westview beat Elkhorn South 69-40. This put Westview girls basketball on an eight game winning streak, keeping hopes high for districts and statecoming up.
“I am feeling hopeful that we can win state, but it may be hard to get there,” Olivia Ross, 12, said.
Following this game came the senior night recognition. Emotions were high as these seniors took in some of their last moments on this court.
After the senior night recognition took place, the varsity boys basketball game began. Unfortunately, the boys team fell short, losing to Elkhorn South 52-51.
